Are you looking to take advantage of the beneficial properties of plants?
Do you prefer to go natural in terms of health and wellness?
Plants are probably one of the undisputed sources for natural remedies. They can emit fragrance that can attract certain insects and then there are some that are effective in repelling pests. We’ve heard time and again how during the ancient times, these plants were also used for their healing properties.
Modern medication is sound for a number of situations but doing a holistic practice focuses on supporting our body in healing itself. Essential oils cannot directly heal you but it does give your body the support it needs to do what it does best, to function as how it’s supposed to and eventually to heal itself.
What I truly like about essential oils is that it’s made from nature. They are potent versions of the plants we know are effective.
What are Essential Oils?
Essential Oils are volatile aromatic compounds found from seeds, barks, stems, roots and flowers. The aromatic fragrances that are emitted have an effect to our limbic system which is involved in our emotions, memory, learning and motivation. It’s the reason why we feel energized when we smell a citrus fruit or relaxed when we smell lavender flower. Volatile aromatic compounds are small organic molecules that change state quickly. The nature of an essential oil varies from each plant. And since they are made from plants and nature, you can be confident that it can bring in a wide range of emotional and physical wellness into your homes.
History of Essential Oils
Essential oils have been used during ancient times about 5,000 years ago from ceremonies, medicinal benefits, food preservation and to perfume.
The Egyptians used them for almost everything, even for beauty care. The ruling families would also wear expensive aromatics and perfume. In Greece, Hippocrates was able to document and studied over 300 plants. He reportedly believed that aromatics be used for fumigation to heal those fallen soldiers as well as combat the plague. All over India, Europe, Rome and China, there also records of its use in the past.
Essential oils now have renewed interest and modern science is beginning to explore the capabilities of essential oils.
